Stonehouse High Street

Paola Spivach of Hamilton-Baillie Associates has been working with Stonehouse Town Council and Gloucestershire County Council to prepare measures to transform the quality of the main high street in the small town of Stonehouse, near Stroud. Work has now started on site, introducing the principles of shared space to the centre of the town. Measures include changes to the perceived width of the street, the removal of centre-line markings and highway clutter, and a strong emphasis on place-making outside the principle buildings.
